This Old House just named the Asylum Hill neighborhood one of the best places in the Northeast to buy an old home! The article also gives a shout out to NINA Hartford, the Northside Institutions Neighborhood Alliance.

As a homeowner/resident in Asylum Hill, it is a beautiful neighborhood. There are some amazing houses in the area that have been lovingly restored. There are more that could use some tender love and care. What we could use: grocery store (Trader Joe’s would be sweet!) and coffee shop or diner. There’s an old diner building just waiting for the right person on Farmington Ave.
But we’re rather close to so many other places like Downtown’s restaurants or my faves on Capitol Ave., Red Rock Tavern and La Paloma Sabanera.
Thanks for the article, ladies!

I hope this article will bring some handy, neighborly bargain hunters to Hartford, there are so many potential gems in that area.
PS- I am pretty sure the house in the article is owned by the Giadones – he’s an architect & she’s the exec director of Hartford Children’s Theatre.
